Original Oratory:The competitor writes a speech on a topic of their choice. There may only be up to 130 words quoted within the speech, the rest must be the original words of the competitor. The speech may not exceed ten minutes in length when preformed and it is better for it to be longer. The speech must be memorized completely.

Dramatic Performance: The competitor selects a piece from a note worthy play, film, or piece of literature. The selection can be no longer than 10 minutes when preformed including the introduction that must be written by the competitor. The introduction must name the piece and the author and give a thorough idea as to what is going on in the piece and can be no longer than thirty seconds. It may come at the very beginning of the piece or after a "teaser" of the piece that may last no more than one minute. The competitor may portray more than one character and is encouraged to do so. The transitions between characters must be understandable and the characters distinctive. Singing within the piece should last no more than a thirty second total.

Humorous Interpretation: Follow the same rules as Dramatic Performance only the piece must be funny!

Duo Interpretation:
Follow the same rules as Dramatic Performance mostly. Only two competitors act as a team. Competitors perform the piece with out looking at one another or touching each other. They may however look at each other and touch each other during the introduction!

There are many forms of debate that fall under this category. While they are still quite distinct from each other, they are all speech events in a sense that they all consist of giving speeches, either extemporaneous or prewritten.
